Thought about canvassing to promote your business

Being a small start up business owner more often than not you don’t have the marketing budget  you really desire to  promote your business and place it front and center under the nose of your potential target market. But that doesn’t mean you can’t engage in any marketing.  One really great low cost marketing strategy and probably one of the quickest ways to get started in promoting your business is by canvassing your local area.

All you need is a professional flyer and some walking shoes.  When I say professional, I don’t mean produced by a professional graphic artist or printer, but your flyer shouldn’t look like it was made by your toddler, It should be neat and clearly convey your message.  You can create the flyer on any word processing program, if you are not creatively inclined check out the many freely available flyer templates in Microsoft word or on the internet, you are sure to come across one that is suitable for your business.

With your flyer in hand, you are ready to canvass.  You can canvass in a few different ways.  You can leave your flyers on cars in a busy parking lot.  You can hand them out to people in a bustling shopping district.  You can even stop into local businesses and hand them to the clerk or receptionist.  Just remember, the more you engage your prospective clients, the higher the chance of them actually reading your flyer. So be friendly, professional, and knowledgeable and demonstrate your passion for your small business.
